I know you must have thought it is not good to set some dreams to achieve in 2021 simply because it feels like you are setting up yourself to disappointment because 2020 was not as good as we have imagined it to be.

However, I do not think we should let ourselves to be in slump or not be ambitious enough. I am a self-development geek myself, and I believe despite the coming challenges that we may not be able to foresee, we could still aim better in life.

In 2021, I am setting up a 21 List of things to do before the year ends. These are the things I wish to achieve this year :

Career and Professional Development

  1. Get a full-time job (I am currently studying and finishing for the two professional papers listed down here)
  2. Pass Certificate of Legal Practice
  3. Pass Professional Certificate of Islamic Finance

Finances

  1. Start paying for my student loan after full-time job is established
  2. Build my credit score
  3. Open Maybank Account
  4. Open my tax file account
  5. Have a certain number of savings in ASB/TH/Stocks/Wahed Invest

Self-Development

  1. Buy my own Pandora’s ring or bracelet
  2. Read 24 books listed in my checklists
  3. Go to Latte Art Class
  4. Have a book club
  5. Set up an online community
  6. Write 20 Posts on Medium.com

Fitness and Health

  1. Reduce 5kg weight
  2. Join KL Standard Chartered Marathon — 10km
  3. Run 400km

Personal

  1. Live at my own place
  2. Dye my hair

Religious

  1. Khatam Qur’an for this year

Conclusion

I know some of the lists sounds funny (like, opening a Maybank account?) but I wanted to acknowledge myself that small little steps matter. I’ve been contemplating of opening a Maybank account due to the inefficiency of my current bank account (ahem, ahem) but I also know that Maybank is very innovative in its products!

As stupid as some of the lists may be, it’s mine and it’s personal. It’s something that I want to acknowledge as achievement, despite how brutally funny it may be(dye hair, really?).

I pray 2021 will treat us better. I pray we will be better resilient at managing challenges and difficulties to come.

So, what’s your 2021 list?
